Ludington Lake Jump

Early April

April means springtime, so why jump in the lake? Because some hearty Ludington residents want to help raise money, which means it's time for the Ludington Lake Jump. This is the 13th year for the Lake Jump, which began when two local disc jockeys made a dare. Since then, nearly $300,000 has been raised for local charities, such as Sandcastles Children's Museum and the Rotary's STRIVE program.

This year, the committee hopes to raise at least $30,000 for the Ludington Area Center for the Arts. Money will be used for renovations and programming. Basically, area residents and businesses take pledges and try to raise as much money as possible. In return, that person must run into the icy waters of Lake Michigan at Stearns Park Beach. Many local businesses also help out with hot drinks and food at the event.

If you would like to get involved, you can go to www.ludingtonartscenter.org or www.lakejump.org to get a pledge sheet. Get your friends and family involved by making a pledge. If you're a business, join in the fun and find creative ways to get your employees involved...and possibly match their pledge. You can turn in your pledge sheet the morning of the event from 9:45am-10:45am at Stearns Park Beach. If you have any photos from past events, the committee would love to share them.

A little cold water never hurt anyone, so Make a Splash for the Arts and join in the fun!
It's a rite of spring here in West Michigan...the 14th Annual Ludington Lake Jump at Stearns Park Beach.
